Airport to hotel with kids, strollers and luggage: which transport fits?

If your hotel is near a station or bus stop and your bags are manageable, start by comparing rail and airport buses. With children, a stroller, several suitcases or multiple hotel connections, compare a direct taxi or prebooked transfer too. Plan the journey all the way to your hotel entrance, not just the first leg.

Compare four ways to reach your hotel

Use your hotel address, arrival time and family’s needs. The prebooked option describes our fleet; other operators and platforms may have different arrangements.

Compare four ways to reach your hotel
TransportReaching your hotelBags and strollerComparing the fare
01Airport Express + onward connectionReaching your hotelTravel to Tsing Yi, Kowloon or Hong Kong Station, then check the walk, MTR, taxi or hotel shuttle to your accommodation. Your hotel may not be next to the station.Bags and strollerEach connection means moving bags while looking after children. Check lift access and the route from your chosen exit to the hotel.Comparing the fareAdd the applicable tickets for everyone and any onward fare. Compare child tickets and the terms of current offers before buying.
02Airport busReaching your hotelFind a stop near your hotel. A nearby stop without a transfer can reduce handling. Journey time depends on the route, stops and road traffic.Bags and strollerCitybus Cityflyer buses have luggage racks. Check stroller handling and baggage rules before boarding, and allow for the walk from the stop with your bags.Comparing the fareAdd each person’s applicable fare for the route. Check the service hours, departure you need and any connection cost.
03Airport taxi rankReaching your hotelJoin the queue and use the vehicles available. Confirm your destination and a suitable drop-off point with the driver. Road traffic affects journey time.Bags and strollerGive the numbers of adults and children and details of all bags before boarding. Check the actual seats and load space, not just the passenger count.Comparing the fareMetered fare plus applicable extras. Baggage and strollers may attract charges under the Transport Department’s taxi fare rules.
04Prebooked with our fleetReaching your hotelShare your hotel address, flight and passenger details in advance and wait for confirmation. Follow the P1 meeting arrangements confirmed for your pickup.Bags and strollerView our 6-seater and boot photos. Share bag quantities and sizes plus the folded stroller dimensions so the fleet can confirm a suitable layout.Comparing the fareLook up our fixed fare by district and direction, then confirm the total, inclusions and extra requirements. Passenger count alone does not decide which option is cheaper.

24 minutes to Hong Kong Station is not 24 minutes to your hotel

MTR lists approximately 24 minutes between Airport and Hong Kong stations. For your full journey, add waiting, connections and the trip from the station or bus stop to the hotel. Check the actual hotel entrance and a suitable station exit, especially with a stroller and large cases.

MTR lists shuttle services provided by selected hotels and operated by those hotels. They do not cover every hotel. Ask your hotel about eligibility, departure times, pickup points and any charge.

Match the journey to your family

Light luggage, hotel near a stop

Compare Airport Express with a bus that stops near your hotel. Check whether the walk works for you rather than relying on a short distance on a map.

Children to look after and a stroller to push

Prioritise the number of changes and how much you need to carry. With few adults handling both children and bags, compare a direct ride. A bus stopping close to your hotel can also work well.

A larger family wanting to travel together

Count every passenger, including children, and confirm seats, luggage and any equipment needed. Having 6 passenger seats does not prove that every load fits with all seats occupied. More than 6 passengers cannot travel in one of our 6-seaters.

Compare the family total, not one adult ticket

For rail or bus, add everyone’s applicable fare and any connection to your hotel. For a taxi or prebooked ride, compare the number of vehicles required, the journey fare and applicable extras. Keep the destination, passenger group and direction the same for a useful comparison.

MTR currently lists child fares for ages 3–11 and free travel for children under 3. Airport Express journeys paid by contactless bank card use the adult fare; child fares do not apply to that payment method. Check how you pay and the terms of any current offer before travelling.

Prepare these details before asking for a vehicle

  • Hotel name, full address, arrival date and flight number.
  • Numbers of adults and children. If child travel equipment is needed, give the child’s age, height, weight and specific requirements.
  • The number and size of your bags, plus the stroller’s folded dimensions. Photos can help describe bulky items.
  • Ask the fleet to confirm seats, loading and any equipment, then confirm the total fare, meeting point and booking.

Confirm the type, suitability and availability of child seats in advance; do not assume a vehicle has them. A stroller and child travel restraint equipment serve different purposes.

Share your family’s trip details

Completing the form and sending the details on WhatsApp still requires confirmation from the fleet.

Family airport pickup questions

Do we need a prebooked car just because we have a stroller?
Not necessarily. Consider the destination, walking, connections and whether the adults can manage both children and bags. Public transport is worth comparing when your hotel is close to a stop or station. Confirm any specific seating or equipment needs in advance.
Will 6 passengers, a stroller and large cases fit in a 6-seater?
The actual layout needs confirmation. Folded stroller dimensions and bag sizes and quantities affect the fit. Folding rear seats to make luggage space also changes the seats available. Share the full details rather than treating a photo as a capacity guarantee.
Is a taxi always cheaper than Airport Express for a family?
No. Ticket types, child fares, offers, onward connections, the number of taxis needed and applicable extras all affect the total. Compare the whole family’s cost to the same destination.
Where do we go after landing if we have booked?
Confirmed bookings with our fleet use the Prebooked Taxi Pick-up Zone beside P1. After collecting your bags, use the P1 photo guide and your driver’s confirmed instructions. The general taxi rank is a different pickup arrangement.
